Fair Play Regional Victoria Symposium wraps up year-long program, showcasing equity and inclusion successes in Regional Victoria

Last month, Diversity Arts hosted the fantastic Fair Play Regional Victoria Symposium. In partnership with Bendigo Venues and Events, the full-day event was held at Bendigo’s historic The Capital and attended by Fair Play Regional Victoria participants and graduates, regional arts and cultural organisations, arts workers and others.

With support from key partner Creative Victoria, the symposium celebrated the culmination of the 2023 Fair Play Regional Victoria Program, which provided specialist training and supported Equity Action Plans for 11 council-owned cultural venues across regional Victoria.

The event showcased an exciting lineup of speakers, each offering unique perspectives and expertise, including: Rodney Carter, Djaara Traditional Owner and DJAARA CEO; Cr Matthew Evans, Deputy Mayor, City of Bendigo; Emma King, Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation; Dr Margaret Mayhew, Arts Access Victoria; Dominic Golding, Policy Officer, National Ethnic Disability Alliance. Panel discussions also took place, featuring Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services, Arena Theatre, and Bendigo Art Gallery.

Thanks to event producer and emcee Dr Görkem Acaroğlu, and to the DARTS team and our many wonderful project partners. View the event through photos here.
