We Are Studios, A2K Media, Insightful, Shifting Ground and Diversity Arts Australia have been selected to deliver the Australian Government’s Arts and Screen Employment Pathways Pilot Program.
The three-year national program will create temporary paid placements of up to 12 months for early to mid-career d/Deaf and Disabled artists and arts workers across the arts, cultural, screen and digital games sectors, for any art form and any position level across Australia.
Disability-led expertise and lived experience will be central to the program’s design and delivery. The consortium brings together expertise in disability-led creative practice, accessibility, cultural safety, First Nations-led knowledges, ethnocultural and migrant approaches, training, mentoring, employment pathways and organisational change.
Consortium Members
We Are Studios is the Southern Hemisphere’s only 100% Disability-led, peer-run artist studio, supporting Western Sydney artists with disability to develop their creative practice and access paid opportunities.
A2K Media is a disability-led screen production and training organisation working across the arts, screen, and creative sectors to advance inclusive storytelling and equitable employment pathways for Disabled practitioners.
Insightful is a Disability-led consultancy with more than 25 years of practice in accessibility, career pathways for d/Deaf and disabled artists and arts workers, and systemic inclusion across the arts, screen and cultural sectors.
Shifting Ground is a First Nations-owned, women-led profit-for-purpose organisation specialising in First Nations-led cultural safety, ethical engagement and systems-level change.
Diversity Arts Australia is Australia’s national peak body for ethnocultural diversity and racial equity in the arts, screen and creative sectors, and will coordinate the consortium and overall delivery of the program.
The consortium will recruit, select and match participants and host organisations, support organisations to strengthen accessibility and cultural safety, and provide ongoing support throughout the placements.
Applications from potential host organisations are expected to open in late 2026, followed by applications from participants. Placements are expected to begin in early 2027.
