The Women in Arts and Creativity Symposium is a hybrid symposium showcasing the strengths and challenges of culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD), culturally and racially marginalised (CaRM), migrant, and refugee women and gender diverse folk in the arts, screen, and creative sectors. The event will features music, performances, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, and it will be live-streamed.

Culturally diverse women, particularly from Western Sydney and regional NSW, face significant barriers to participating in the creative sectors. This symposium addresses these challenges and highlights achievements.

The event includes activities to connect, celebrate and engage:

*Speed-connecting session: Providing a dynamic, structured networking opportunity, allowing participants to connect via brief, focused conversations with industry peers, mentors, and potential collaborators.

*Live performances: Celebrating diverse cultural expressions, highlighting rich cultural diversity, unique backgrounds/experiences, and creative talents of CaLD/CaRM women, featuring music, dance, spoken word, and visual arts.

*Panel discussions: Spotlighting key challenges faced by CaLD/CaRM women and strategies to overcome them. Topics include accessing opportunities within arts/creative sectors and intersectionality in creative expression.

*Networking: Making connections with other creatives and colleagues.

The event schedule, speakers and performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Diversity Arts Australia is offering travel bursaries ($200-$500) for up to 15 women from regional NSW selected from the EOI process. Two (2) regional applicants will also be selected for a two-night stay in a two-bedroom shared apartment provided by Parramatta Artist Studios.
