Lena Nahlous speaks at Metropolis Conference

Global Migration in Turbulent times

29 Oct — 2 Nov 2018

DARTS Executive Director Lena Nahlous will speak at the Metropolis Conference 2018, along with the world’s brightest academic, government and community leaders and practitioners for a week of learning, discussion and debate on migration, diversity and integration. Metropolis will be an intellectually challenging, culturally rewarding opportunity to network and explore the latest thinking and practices in migration policy, research and programs.

On Wednesday 31 October, Lena will join Abid Hussain from the Arts Council of England, John Sintras from SBS, and Wendy Were from the Australia Council in a panel on Reshaping narratives: arts and media in the age of diversity and migration, chaired by Mary Patetsos from the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia. The session will examine policies, research and practice which advance inclusion in the arts and media, and realise the creative aspirations of people from minority backgrounds.

This year’s event is hosted by a consortium, led by Settlement Services International (SSI), in partnership with Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF) and Multicultural NSW (MNSW).
