Hawanatu Bangura

Hawanatu Bangura is an Afro-Australian award-winning filmmaker and social worker. Born in Sierra Leone, she migrated to Australia in 2002. She has written, produced and directed over 12 short films in various genres including dance, experimental, drama, documentary and animation. Her films have won awards and screened at major film festivals. She recently founded a storytelling social enterprise called Mahawa Creative. Her social enterprise creates videos with impactful stories for organisations. Also, facilitate workshops for women to address stress, anxiety and self-worth through the use of storytelling, creativity and self-care practices in an inclusive and safe environment that leads to positive transformations.
