Rayann Bekdache is a second-generation Australian Muslim woman of Lebanese heritage who grew up in Sydney’s South West on Darug and Eora land. She is a former journalist and sub-editor who writes to process and share her lived experiences. She has written for SBS Voices, Online Opinion and The Sydney Morning Herald and has performed at the Bankstown Poetry Slam and Revolution Renegade. Rayann is passionate about chocolates, cakes and desserts and shares her creations via a small, home-based business. She currently works at the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and has experience in the immigration, community services and disability support sectors.
