Right now, organisations are asking us: when can you bring this training to us?
Galleries in Canberra want it. Creative networks across Tasmania and Western Australia are seeking our talks.
The Anti-Racism & The Arts campaign started in Gadigal last April. We delivered masterclasses. We trained artists to lead the conversation on anti-racism in creative workplaces. Organisations are using what they learned to actually shift how they hire, who they program, who gets heard.
But we’re only reaching Gadigal right now.
By June 30, we want to raise $10,000 to take this nationwide. Not as a one-off grant round. Not as another “diversity initiative” that disappears. Real, ongoing masterclasses and Campaign Talks in cities and regions where culturally and racially marginalised artists need them.
Every dollar goes directly to:
- Training artists to deliver anti-racism workshops (because artists understand the work better than external consultants)
- Removing financial barriers through regional bursaries (because emerging artists can’t always afford travel or time away from work)
- Paying presenters properly (because if we want artists leading this, we pay them what they’re worth)
- Campaign materials that actually reach organisations (postcards, posters, resources that start conversations)
If we reach $10,000:
- 4 new masterclasses delivered
- 20+ regional bursaries supported
- 10 Campaign Talks delivered
- 500 organisations reached
This is what concrete, systemic change looks like.
HOW YOUR DONATION WORKS
Expand Anti-Racism & The Arts Nationwide
Here’s exactly where your money goes. Pick a tier that fits you!
DONATION TIERS
TIER 1: $50 — SUPPORTER
What it funds:
Print and post campaign postcards to 5 organisations across Australia.
What you get:
✓ Digital thank-you
✓ Quarterly impact report (we’ll tell you what happened next)
✓ Tax receipt
Why this amount:
Postcards are how we reach organisations that haven’t heard about anti-racism training yet. They’re shareable. They start conversations. We’ve seen organisations book talks because of a postcard on the studio wall.
TIER 2: $100 — CHAMPION
What it funds:
Print and post campaign postcards to 10 organisations + support the expansion.
What you get:
✓ Digital thank-you
✓ Quarterly impact report (we’ll tell you what happened next)
✓ Tax receipt
TIER 3: $300 – $500 – ADVOCATE
What it funds:
A regional bursary for one emerging artist to attend our Anti-Racism & The Arts Masterclass series.
What you get:
✓ Digital thank-you
✓ Named recognition in our impact report
✓ Quarterly updates telling you about the artist your donation supported
✓ Tax receipt
Why this amount:
Masterclasses change artists’ practice. They teach frameworks. They build confidence. But regional artists often can’t attend—travel costs money, time away from work costs money. Your donation removes that barrier for one person. That person then becomes a trainer, a presenter, a force for change in their community. We’ve seen this happen.
TIER 4: $1,500 – CATALYST
What it funds:
A full Anti-Racism & The Arts Masterclass in a metropolitan area (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane) for up to 20 people.
What you get:
✓ Digital thank-you
✓ Invitation to attend the masterclass as a guest
✓ Named recognition in our impact report
✓ Quarterly updates from that cohort
✓ Tax receipt
Why this amount:
A masterclass costs $1,500 to deliver properly: artist fees, materials, venue, prep time. Your donation funds one complete masterclass. You’re training 20 artists. You’re building a cohort of people equipped to deliver anti-racism workshops in their own organisations and communities.
TIER 5: $3,000 – LEADER
What it funds:
An Anti-Racism & The Arts Masterclass in regional Australia (outside metro areas) for up to 20 people + travel bursaries for participants who need support to attend.
What you get:
✓ Digital thank-you
✓ Invitation to attend the masterclass
✓ Named recognition in our impact report + acknowledgment in regional promotion
✓ Quarterly updates with personal stories from masterclass participants
✓ Tax receipt
Why this amount:
Regional delivery costs more. Travel for facilitators. Accommodation. Support for participants who can’t afford travel. $3,000 ensures artists in Tasmania, regional NSW, outback Queensland, regional Victoria can access this training without financial barriers. You’re literally removing geography as an excuse.
NOT SURE HOW MUCH?
No amount is too small. $25 helps print postcards. $75 covers part of a bursary. Every dollar counts.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE
Real examples. Real artists. Real change.
The Campaign Talk
A masterclass participant was invited to deliver a Campaign Talk at a major arts organisation. The talk sparked conversations they’d never been able to have before—about hiring practices, about whose voices get heard, about power in the creative workplace.
“The Australian Society of Authors team were thrilled to meet with representatives from Diversity Arts Australia to learn about the new Anti-Racism & The Arts campaign. The session was engaging, educational, and collaborative, with straight-forward and accessible information about the complex issues at stake. The presentation left us feeling empowered and supported to promote equality and combat racism, and to direct our members to resources for help and support. We thank Diversity Arts Australia and look forward to a continued alliance to promote the campaign and contribute to positive change in the creative sector.”

WHO’S BEHIND THIS
Diversity Arts Australia (DARTS) is the national voice for ethno-cultural and migrant racial equity in the arts, cultural and creative industries.
For over 21 years, we’ve worked with culturally and racially marginalised artists, arts organisations, and creative communities. We’ve developed frameworks like Fair Play. We’ve trained hundreds of creatives. We’ve shifted hiring practices in major institutions.
This campaign is part of our commitment to systemic change—not diversity targets, but real power shifts in who gets funded, who gets heard, who gets paid.
