Nexus Arts’ Toolkit for Arts Organisations to Increase Cultural Diversity in Our Audiences

Nexus Arts has launched ‘You’re Welcome: A Guide for Arts Organisations to Increase Cultural Diversity in Our Audiences’ – a toolkit aimed at assisting arts organisations in becoming “more welcoming and inclusive of audiences with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.” The project was supported by the Government of South Australia through a Multicultural Affairs Stronger Together grant, and their research partners Research Nexus.

The toolkit makes reference to Diversity Arts Australia’s Creative Equity Toolkit to further develop an organisation’s equity goals.

It features data from:

• 56 online survey responses and 4 focus groups targeting members of the Arabic-speaking, Mandarin-speaking and Spanish-speaking communities
• An intercultural sessions featuring participants comfortable using English
• Participants born in 24 different countries who reported speaking 22 languages in addition to English
